VIP Treatment with Wine Women and Shoes

Greetings, everyone. I hope you guys have your opera glasses and champagne (assuming you’re 21 or older). On November the 8th, I splurged a lottle (like a little, but a lot) and went to Wine, Women and Shoes– and guys, you know I had to be extra. I went all the way and went for the VIP treatment. VIP guests got the same perks as those who got the general admission:

General Admission tickets include entrance to the marketplace, wine tastings, culinary bites, a seat at the fashion show, plus a swag bag and wine glass to take home. *Price increase on September 16 to $100.

There was a slight difference between the VIP and general admission.

VIP tickets include all of the perks of a general admission ticket plus premier seating during the fashion show so you can kick up your heels and enjoy the show. In addition to the swag bag and wine glass to take home, there will also be a little something extra waiting for you at your seat!

When I first walked into the venue, I noticed how crowded it was. I think it took me 20 minutes to get my ticket situated. I’m pretty happy that they were able to have such a great turn out for this event, they certainly deserve it. There was a woman perched in the air making languid movements while balanced in a ribbon, I’m probably butchering what was actually happening, but I thought she was perfect for the ambience. I wanted to commend her on not losing her grip and taking a tumble, because I’m fairly certain that I would!

The fashion show bit didn’t begin until about 8 PM, so I had plenty of time to peruse the vendors that were kind enough to come show their support for a good cause. There were several booths selling gorgeous jewelry, some of which was out of my price range, which broke my heart. There was food, but as I had been ill most of the day I decided to completely forego even getting within smelling distance of it in favor of indulging myself to grab a whole new outfit. These were the vendors I was able to photograph! There were some others, but I didn’t want to get a photo with the guests and risk getting a photo with an unwilling model. I will link all merchants at the bottom, for the curious!

Once I was done wandering around the impressively large library filled to the brim with vendors, I made my way outside to the large tent that would be housing the main festivities. It was really a little surreal for me as I made my way to my table. I’ve never been to a fashion show of any sort, let alone as a VIP sitting right by the stage. It was an incredible feeling!

I wanted to make sure to get you guys some pictures worth looking at of the gorgeous models, you can check out the models in the slideshow below! Don’t worry, I got permission from the hosts to bring my camera! These are (almost) guilt-free photos! I have them in a random order down below, because I didn’t realize that they did the fashion in blocks of retailers. It hit me that there were 2-3 outfits per shop when I looked at a model and thought “Huh… that reminds me of the style of the Posh Peach.”

My obliviousness aside, enjoy the photos and fashions!

I know you may be wondering what was in the goody bag, and what my special VIP surprise was! I’ll end the intrigue here and tell you! The goodies were a Tsys wine-bag, that was stuffed with pink tissue paper. Under the paper was a wine spritzer, bath bomb and loofah! I passed off the wine to my partner, but he’s not getting the bath bomb.

When I saw this event was coming, I knew I wanted to go. I wasn’t sure what to even wear. I’ve never even been to a Fashion Show, I’ve never been a VIP or anything. What do people even where to those? Am I even fancy enough? Can I be? I went on the hunt for the perfect dress, and the search was a month long.

The one photo I got of my dress- I had another person take it, and it came out super dark. I swear I tried to salvage it.

I eventually settled on sporting emerald green, I wasn’t sure on the cut of the dress. Glamorous? Casual? I ended up going to elegance. Guys, this dress made me literally so happy the moment I saw it. I knew it was the one, and it was so fairly priced at 18.99!

My gorgeous, and affordable, dress was paired it with black shoes. For my makeup, I settled on a red lip from NYX and a smokey eye courtesy of Urban Decay’s Naked palette with accents from my Jaclyn Hill Morphe Palette. The gorgeous ladies over at Ulta trimmed my do so I could look as sleek as possible- I think they did a great job!

All in all, the Wine Women and Shoes event was fantastic! I did end up shopping just a little, and to be honest it was a little less than I thought I would buy. I was so excited to see Sassy and Southern there, since I never got to go back for the dress I loved. I ended up grabbing two items from them! A cold-shoulder black shift dress, and some suede tan booties. I did have to throw on some tights and my favorite Marshall’s cardigan to make it feel more work appropriate, but I adore it! I also grabbed a wine colored scalloped skirt that’s definitely too short for work, once I pair it with the perfect fall top I’ll share it with you!

Fashionable Findings: Sassy and Southern Boutique

Hi, everyone! This week we’re going to be featuring a local boutique that we just discovered! “Sassy and Southern” is a little hidden gem of a boutique with adorable and affordable fashion and accessories. Their selections are well organized and color coordinated, on top of this, there are two rooms to explore. The side room has various miscellaneous items like bags, bottles and graphic tees- there is also a fair selection of bottoms, like jeggings and jean shorts.

Upon walking in, the fashionable cashier was courteous and cooperative with us. We were met only with patience when we asked to feature them and take photographs. I do want to note her exceptional patience and really emphasize it, as it was raining quite heavily. We weren’t able to leave for at least an hour or more.
We tried on 2 outfits apiece, each cuter than the last!

Sassy and Southern off shoulder shirt
Jeans tried on this adorable outfit, with an off the shoulder shirt and rocked every second of it. The distressed jeggings were comfortable and she raved about them and eventually walked out with a pair to wear in the future. The cashier was lovely and allowed us to accessorize with the outfits. For this one, Jeans chose a gorgeous burgundy tassel, that complemented the whole outfit. We were both in love with the shoes, and they were very fairly priced at 35 dollars, which was a lovely surprise!

One of our favorite things about this little shop was that there were cute affirmations on the mirror that really gave the shop a kind of genuine charm.

Sassy and Southern cold shoulder dress

I tried this lovely cold-shoulder floral patterned dress with a similar shoe in the tan color. This dress was incredibly soft and felt breathable and perfect for a hot summer day. I accessorized with a multi-color beaded necklace, that I was decently in love with and had a nice weight.

Sassy and Southern romper

Miss Jean’s second outfit was a lovely, flattering, white floral romper. She paired it with the shoes from before, they’re really so versatile in that light blush color! The romper fit lovely with no apparent issues with the seams, and accentuated her gorgeous skin tone! She chose to pair it with a slight boho bracelet set that matches the shoes nicely.
I can picture this at a barbeque, just be careful with the sauce! It appears to light enough to be breathable and summery enough to pass for some casual party clothes.

Sassy and Southern fall outfit

My second outfit was a pair of the distressed jeggings, in black. Again, I with the same shoes as earlier because I was also very much in love with them! This particular outfit feels fairly versatile, perfect for the fall if you want a pop of color. The jeggings would be great, if you like the old layering trend, under a skirt. I didn’t choose any accessories with this outfit, because I’m not quite as inspired as Jeans in that department. I can really feel this for a fun night out, for a low maintenance outfit!

Sassy and southern floating on shirt

For her third choice, Jeans was absolutely in love with this adorable shirt. The happy little piggy brings a motivational sentiment that I think we can all agree with! This shirt really struck me as a potential bathing suit coverup, based on the color. It’s just so incredibly charming, and the happy little graphic makes me smile.

Sassy and Southern Boho Dress

I tried on this dress myself, as my third item. I didn’t think any of the pictures really did it (or myself) justice, so I’m just going to put this here. This little dress is so delightfully boho and the bright colors would be perfectly paired with- you guessed it- those very same tan shoes! I think a belt would also do it some good, just a simple brown or white belt to cinch in the waist with some wrap bracelets to further drive the aesthetic home. For your hair, I’d definitely recommend loose waves! Honestly, guys, I can’t recommend Sassy and Southern enough. We were totally blown away by the friendliness and patience of the worker, so go in and say hello!

The end of an Era…

With wrapping up this post, this marks the end of a fairly short-lived era. As I’ve mentioned in social media, Jeans has decided to split off and do her own blog. I fully support her in this decision, and you can find her new blog by clicking here!

Most Wanted May Edition: A UniquExpression of admiration

This post comes a little after the end of May, but I would be remiss if I didn’t make note and share my pick for Most Wanted coffee in May! We went to a few different coffee shops, not as many as April, in all honesty. We did finally make it out to Pine Mountain, Georgia to revisit UniquExpressions. Finally.

I waited for what felt like forever to return there and try their delicious blends again. We brought Jeans (who has since left the blog to pursue her own), who absolutely raved about it. They are the coffee for people who do not like coffee. Their flavors are so fantastically harmonious and smooth that it’s difficult to find something bad to say. My personal favorite is the Prince Harry Iced Latte, because all of the flavors just mesh so well. I’m not sure what they do differently, but it makes the coffee out of this world

We’ll be revisiting Pine Mountain and the surrounding towns for content for the first leg of a rather large undertaking that my Fiance’ inspired me to attempt. I’ll be releasing information about that soon, so be on the lookout!

Coffee and their shoe selection
They have the cutest shoes alongside their amazing coffees!

They give you the coffee in a nicely portable cup- but I do want to note, that it’s not very sturdy. I definitely advise you drink the coffee fairly quickly because the cup will come apart. But, really, I don’t see too much risk of that because my coffee certainly didn’t last long enough for it to be a problem, neither did anyone else’s.

One of my favorite things about UniquExpressions is that they have their information right up front- such as where they acquire their beans and the intensity of the roast. You can view all of that in my previous post about UniquExpressions

I do want to put it out there for our readers that this little shop has more than just coffee. They have pizza, sandwiches and ice cream as well. When we go back to Pine Mountain I intend to give their other treats a try. If you find yourself in the area, or are lucky enough to do a coffee road trip, you don’t want to miss Pine Mountain’s (in my opinion) greatest treasure.

Congratulations, UniquExpressions for being my May’s Most Wanted! We’ll most definitely be back!

How to look glam for your graduation!

Hey, Y’all!

Graduation season is in full swing, and if you’ve been racking your brain (and rummaging through your closet) trying to figure out what to wear, look no further! I’ve come up with three adorable graduation looks that will have you shining brighter than the flash on your mom’s camera!

Outfit One: The Classic LWD (Little White Dress).

I am OBSESSED with this dress! Nothing says summer like the color white and eyelet fabric! It’s soft, feminine, flirty, and could be a go-to date dress after graduation! Available at Charlotte Russe, this dress comes in just under 40 bucks, and you can find it here!

When it comes to shoes, personally I’d pair this dress with these nude block heeled pumps. If you aren’t a fan of that shade of nude, you could go for any neutral tone shoe such as a tan, chocolate brown, pewter, or even a matching white. I love block heeled pumps because they are much easier to walk in than a stiletto. Also, if your graduation ceremony is being held outside, you won’t have to worry about your heel sinking down into the grass. You can find the pair of pumps shown above here. When it comes accessories, I’m all about statement earring. I think this pair of dangle-ly pearls add a “classic meets modern” touch.

For hair I would suggest a tossed waves with a center part, similar to what the model in the dress is rocking but maybe a bit more polished. As for makeup, keep it simple. Start with a BB cream or a light foundation, buff on some translucent powder, and add just a light flush of color to your cheeks with some blush. Add some highlighter to bridge of your nose and the inner corners of the eye. Swipe on some mascara, put on a natural lip gloss and boom, your ready!

Look Two: The Modern White Romper.

For the ladies who just aren’t that into dresses do worry, I have a look for you too! A more modern take on the classic grad dress would be a romper.

Rompers are so comfy and versatile that you’ll want to wear one all summer long! I love the simplicity of this romper available at H&M. Usually choosing more simplistic outfit gives you an excuse to go all out on your shoes an accessories.

Starting with the shoes, I wanted to add a pop of color to the look so I chose these ADORABLE faux suede orange block heeled pumps. These are currently on sale at Charlotte Russe and you can find them here.

As for accessories there I suggest these adorable coral tassel earrings from Francesca’s to coordinate with the shoes. If earrings aren’t your thing, and longer metallic chain necklace would accent the v-neck of the romper. Since I’d pick earrings over a necklace, I’d pair this romper with these earrings.

As for hair, I love the models simple straight style but feel free to add a little curl to the ends if you’d like to. As for makeup, I’d keep the face fairly simple, add some bronzer, highlighter, and make sure to wing out that liner eyeliner girlfriend! A pop of coral on those lips will really seal the deal. I love the NYX Soft Matte Lipcream in the color Manila. This liquid lipstick doesn’t dry your lips out, however, I do like add a clear gloss over the lipstick to give it a dewy shine.

Outfit Three: The “Wildcard” Two Piece.

Ok ladies, so we’ve come to our last outfit choice which is the matching two-piece set. Two piece outfits have grown on me. When they first came back into style, I was skeptical of them because of my recent weight gain. I finally bought one, I came to the conclusion that whether your teeny-tiny, thick and curvey or in between, you can totally rock this look! I should also mention this a “sexier” outfit option, so this might be more appropriate for a college grad than a high school grad depending on your school/university’s dress code. This outfit is perfect for the grad who might be going straight from the ceremony to the after- party. Similar to the other two looks, this jumpsuit would probably become a go-to night out outfit. This jumpsuit is available on Fashion Nova’s website, you can find it here.

For shoes, I actually like the traditional black heeled sandals that Fashion Nova chose, however, I rather pair it with a metallic heeled sandal. Like the one pictured above. These heels were found on AKIRA, you can check them out here.

For accessories, lets switch it up! This time I’m going to suggest picking out a simple pair of hoops or stud earrings and pairing them with a cute bracelet, similar to what the model is wearing. I found this bracelet on Lightinthebox.com. I’ve never shopped on this website, but I really do love this cuff.

For hair, I’d keep it glamorous with some soft “Old Hollywood” waves. As for makeup, a classic red lip and a winged liner would tie in nicely with the whole glamour theme, just make sure to keep the rest of the face pretty simple. (Similar to the makeup for look two.) When it comes to red lipstick you can never go wrong with Mac’s Ruby Woo Lipstick. You can find that here.

Well, that’s all three looks ladies! I hope was able to spark some outfit ideas for y’all. If you’re graduating this year, congratulations and enjoy your special day!

Also, I’d love to hear what y’all think about the outfits, and which one was your favorite!

Until next time,

Miss Southern Belle Bottom Jean.
