For today’s Convenience Coffee, I gave McCafe a try. Since Starbucks left a bad taste in my mouth (literally), I felt like I needed to do something else.
McCafe coffees that you can find in Wal-Marts and convenience stores, comes in 3 flavors. Vanilla, Mocha and my drink for today, Caramel.
Much like our last forray into convenience coffee, this isnt strictly “coffee” but a coffee “beverage” which apparently means whatever is inside has a water feeling. The smell, at first, was intense but settled down to a soft caramel with sharp accents.
The overall taste was pretty lax and unintimidating. At first it was unpleasant because felt like the flavor rested on the back of my tongue like a wax.
I guess drinking more of it made that sensation fade, luckily. The caramel flavor was much like the scent of the drink- sweet with a hint of sharpness (yet still too soft, but what else did I expect?).
Over-all the McCafe Caramel was leaps above the S’mores drink. I imagine it was fairly accurate and if I had frozen it, it would have tasted like the frappe from McDonald’s.
This gets a pretty solid rating, as far as bottled coffee goes! If you enjoy the McDonald’s frappes you’ll most likely enjoy this.
